The Cannes Film Festival begins this week, celebrating international film at one of the world’s biggest and brightest festivals. The event is not only for star studded red carpets and advanced screenings, however. The Marche du Film becomes the biggest trade hub in the distribution game. According to the Cannes website, “The Marché du Film is a vital meeting point for 12 400+ industry professionals – including 3 900 producers, 3 300 buyers and distributors and 1 000 festival programmers -, a place to meet peers from around the world and boost your business opportunities.”`
This year, four Pink films will be taking the trip to France as part of Darkside Releasing. S&M Hunter, Twilight Dinner, The Succulent Succubus, and A Lonely Cow Weeps at Dawn will be shown to other distributors and marketers. Darkside is a new boutique-style film sales company featuring international genre films. It’s a big opportunity for more of the world to be exposed to the Japanese pink genre.
